The Kiwanis Club of Young Professionals held a webinar session with young mothers of the Mary’s Child home on Saturday February 27, 2021. Under the theme: "Prevention is betta da cure", the Club engaged the mothers in enlightening their understanding of the phenomenon that affect young babies as well as shared some valuable information on how to baby proof the home for children’s safety.
The session was moderated by Kiwanian Ms. Rakeisha Williams and included greetings from Lieutenant Governor for Kiwanis Division 23 Central, Ms. Deborah Manning, and the Club’s President Jermaine Young. The mothers were addressed by Dr. Lashorn Christian, who presented on the dangers of Shaken baby syndrome, which was further complimented by a presentation from Ms. Samantha Gayle who spoke on the importance of baby proofing the home that would thus prevent danger to children. The young mothers were given care packages for their children and themselves and diapers were donated to the home as well.
The project was sponsored through a grant from the Kiwanis Children's Fund.
